Our Church History

Shortly after the town of Jonesboro was established in 1859, Methodists began to have services in the Court House and the old Bethany Baptist Church.

The first Methodist Church was a frame building on the northeast corner of Main and Matthews erected in 1885. About 1900, a brick building replaced the original church.

As the town and congregation grew, the church purchased the land on the southwest corner of Main and Matthews and the building, though incomplete, housed the first service in 1926.

The vision of those early members is evident in the size and beauty of this structure. Its size has made it possible for the membership to grow and for the church to consistently increase its outreach and ministry to our members and the community at large.
