October 24, 2010 3:30 pm – Sanctuary Madrigals, Partsongs, and Other Nonsense Arkansas Northeastern College Chamber Singers This nine-voice volunteer ensemble will present a variety of repertoire that spans five centuries and includes five languages (English, Spanish, Latin, German, and Italian), but all the while retains a light-hearted quality that's intended to entertain and educate. It's Christmas Eve, 1941. Reverend Oglethorpe has invited them to the Baptist Church to sing and witness, getting the congregation into the down home holiday spirit before the boys, including one of the Sanders' own, are shipped off to World War II. More than two dozen Christmas carols, many of them vintage hymns, and hilarious yuletide stories from the more or less devote Sanders family keep the audience laughing, clapping and singing along with bluegrass Christmas favorites. April 3, 2011 11:00 am -Sanctuary John Rutter’s “Feel the Spirit” Rachel Waiters, Mezzo-soprano and Combined Choirs /Instrumentalists Feel the Spirit, Rutter's cycle of seven spirituals arranged for mezzo-soprano, mixed choir, and orchestra or chamber orchestra, is proving to be a favorite amongst audiences everywhere. This work brings new life to such well-loved titles as “Steal Away”, “I Got a Robe”, and “When the Saints Go Marching In”.
