We are one church with a variety of worship services in multiple locations. We are a diverse family of believers who recognize that everyone has fallen short of the glory of God. We celebrate the salvation we have received through Jesus Christ, God’s only son, and look to share this Good News with the world around us (see Matthew 28:18-20).

First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro was founded in 1885. We are a part of the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church. And most importantly, we are a part of the worldwide body of believers in Jesus Christ.

We offer several worship opportunities every week. Our traditional worship services are on Sundays at 8:15 in our Chapel and 11:00 in the Sanctuary. Contemporary worship services are also on Sundays at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:11 in Wesley Hall.

On Tuesday nights, we have a very special worship service called Breaking Bonds. This service is in the contemporary style and there is a meal beforehand at 5:30 pm.   Our contemporary services are also streamed live on our facebook page.

Worship is a vital part of what we do here at First Church, but it’s not the only thing. We’ve been blessed to have thriving and growing children and youth ministries. We offer programs for kids ages birth to 6th grade every Sunday morning and Wednesday night. And our youth group, First Youth, meet at 11am on Sundays and 6pm on Wednesday nights.

If your family includes children or teenagers, we think you’ll love what First Church has to offer.

And we wouldn’t be true followers of Christ if we didn’t do as He commanded and put our faith to action. We currently have and support several outreach and mission opportunities both locally and abroad.

Our motto is “Putting Jesus First in Our Lives.” This is not just a witty catch-phrase, but a battle cry for each and every one of us. Regardless of whether a person has been a long-time believer or is still searching, we all need the daily reminder of who we should put first in everything we do.   We’d love to meet you and share with you more about why we feel so strongly about the love of Jesus Christ.
